Tired

I have been home all day with Hunter and really wasn't even tempted to go to yard sales today...maybe next week. I am just really tired and I think I got my fill of "sales" last weekend when we went to the flea market in Sumpter.

We went to Boise, Idaho last weekend for one day to go to the Cabela's store and then we stayed in Baker City, Oregon for 3 nights while we went to the flea market and then into La Grande, Oregon to go for a hike\bike up to the La Grande Reservoir.

I have been working on a crocheted rag rug and it is almost finished. It should have been finished a long time ago but I ripped it out about 6 times. I will post a picture of it when I am done.

Warren is taking Frosty on a trail course tomorrow at Bent Wire Ranch. Her face is all black (she is the white mule) because she has been licking a tub of molasses for weeks and it is all over her. She looks like she has tar all over her head! He is going to wash her up today so this should be interesting - I will watch and take pictures!

Other than that, all of the babies are doing just great. Bella is becoming such a ham! She is just a hopping and bucking fool; she makes us laugh all the time.

The housework needs to be completed and I need to make bran muffin batter. Maybe I will just sneak out and play with the babies instead.....

Until next time :-)

Hunter & Bella

This is Hunter with little Miss Bella early this morning. She is growing really fast but Bear and Lucy are still ahead of her even though they are younger. Bella loves to jump on us and skitter around when we enter her area. She is a lot of fun.

Trinket has delivered Bauble & Doodad

Trinket finally had her babies this morning. I was sure that she was only packing one and I was very happy to see two little boer goats - one of each. The first picture is of Doodad who is a boy and the second picture is of Bauble who is a girl.

Thank you Lori!

We have two more new additions to our place and I just wanted to send out a real big THANK YOU to Lori & Stacey. Stacey put us in touch with her friend Lori who needed a new home for her babies. The Nubian is Maggie and the little Nigerian Dwarf is Abraham. They just blended right in with the rest of the kids and are kicking up their heels!

Our Up and Coming Buck

This is Sammy and he is our up and coming buck for the little gals that Mister Henry has helped create. Sammy just came to the ranch on Saturday, May 16th from some very nice folks in Redmond.

Bella is looking...

at the new babies in the stall next to hers. She is sooooo sweet!

New Babies!!!!

We went to Bend yesterday to do a little shopping and when we came back Hunter went in the barn to get a hand truck and he came out yelling about the new babies. Here are the pictures of Bear and Lucy. Bear is a big handsome, strapping buckling and he has the dark patches on his face. Lucy is the little doeling who is just precious! These babies were delivered by Miss Abby sometime between 2 PM and 7 PM yesterday and their daddy is our Henry - he makes nice babies!

Yard Sales on Friday, May 15

Wow! Going to yard sales on Friday was very rewarding. My mom was feeling good enough to go with me and it is always nice to have a partner in crime! The deal of the day had to be the bow press for $40.00. I also ended up getting a rolling laundry sorter for $2, a little tykes slide for the baby goats for $5, a beautiful wood scrapbook cover with some elk burned into the front for $2, a cute little set of rough sawn lumber shelves for $5, a set of brand new camo ATV fender bags for $6 and a wonderful little antique dresser with drawers just the right size for all my spools of ribbon for $30. It was a totally awesome day!

Thursday - Time to Clean House & Work on My Site

This is our Boarder Collie Maddie. Maddie is one of the children who help to make the house messy because she is VERY hairy! She is a true joy to have around though. You cannot use a hose around here without this girl right on top of you.
I like these pictures and I often think that I wish I could clean house as easily as we clean Maddie. I would LOVE to take the hose and just wash all the dust & dirt away. I'm off to clean something.

Whiskey & Bella

Here is a picture of Whiskey giving Baby Bella loves...how cute!

What I found in the Barn

I went out to the barn about 5:20 this morning to feed and this is what I found! What a great surprise!!! I named her Bella and she is from Miss Pinky.

Rats! Or rather, A Rat Named Peanut

This is Peanut. She is a year old rat and she is very sweet. I got her at a yard sale where the people were moving to Alaska and could not take her...she and her accessories were free. Peanut lives in Hunter's room and he seems to be enjoying her. Her eyes were kind of mucky in this picture but she is much better now.

I just got a 3 story cage for her off of craigslist for $40. The cage came with food, bedding, a house, a ball, a toy and a wheel. Great deal!

Yard Sale Finds on 5/8

I got to go to yard sales on Friday and I am having a hard time deciding on what my best find was. I cannot choose between my Liz Claiborne, Pierre Cardin, Jennifer Moore and Crazy Horse tops that I got for $1 a piece or the old fashioned deer bags and elk quarter bags that I got for a $1 a piece. Of course I love the tops more but you just can't buy these quality bags anymore unless you want to pay a lot of money for them. These meat bags will be excellent for packing on the mules and you can use them to pack other stuff too I guess.

Oh - I almost forgot about the Sony Home Theater Entertainment Surround Sound system I got for $20. That was a good deal! I also got a huge pile of books for Hunter and he liked them all. Gotta keep the bookworms in this house freshly stocked...

I am really looking for half gallon Kerr\Mason jars now. It's always the same old thing with me though....when I am looking for something I will not find it. But, if I buy it retail I will find it at almost every sale thereafter. Murphy's Law!

The logo for Ultimate Pet Gear

This is the final logo for the website I have been working on. The site is still under construction but I hope to have it open for business by the tail end of next week. This has been a huge learning curve but I am finally feeling pretty good about the whole working from home thing. I haven't made a dime yet but I am learning a lot. My latest accomplishment was to get my customer service e-mail working correctly. What a game but...I won and I still have hair left! I plan on sending everyone an e-mail when I open shop.

Working @ Home

I have been working on some images for my website and I came accross this picture. It looks as if she is telling someone off and it just made me laugh. :-)

Scrap Shack

Oh my....look at these!
I would love to have one of these in the back yard for my scrap booking & internet business. Make mine purple when you order it sweetie!

Klamath Falls Packing Clinic

Warren has wanted to go to the packing clinic in K-falls for years. It seemed a little more important to go this year since we have mules. We stayed at the KOA campground which was very nice and not far from the fairgrounds. It rained almost all weekend so we were happy to see that most everything was indoors at the clinic. We attended some classes on hoof care and trimming, what you should take on your back country trip, the different ways to pack on your mule and one on first aid. All of the classes were very good.

There were a lot of vendors and we were able to get one of those redwood signs with our ranch name on it - it looks really spiffy! We also ordered a branding iron with a capital "E" and a broken arrow going over the top of the E. I cannot wait to get the brand!

We also attended the dinner and auction. It was unreal how cheap everything was going for. It seemed that the mules were going for 1/3 to 1/2 of what they should. Of course we did not win anything in the drawings but we had a really good dinner.

The other big deal for me was getting to go to BigLots! Yes - Warren took me to this store and I thought it was really awesome. I got several items pertaining to my new business at totally awesome prices! It is a good thing that we don't have one of those here or I would be there all the time... There is one in Gresham so maybe I will go to that one the next time we are in the valley.

So, it looks like this clinic is on our agenda for next year. BigLots here I come!

Yard Sale Update for May 1st Post

Hunter and I did manage to squeeze in a couple yard sales before we left for Klamath Falls on Friday. The best find was a 13.3 cf freezer in immaculate condition and then the next best find was a brand new water bladder in a backpack for $5. There was a woman moving back to NC and she was selling everything and cheap. I got the water bladder from her, a new set of speakers for a surround sound system for $5, a new down Tommy Hilfiger coat for $5, a new women's Outbrook coat for $5, a brand new 3 ring paper punch for $2 and Hunter got a scooter for $5. We also got a ton of books from the first yard sale where we got the freezer. I think that Hunter's best find was a pair of antique binoculars; he even found and old antique leather hard case that they fit in. It was a very good yard sale day and we only hit 3 sales in 2 hours (this includes drive time)!

Haulin' Ass

Here is the latest and greatest installment to our little ranch. His name is Whiskey and I got a good laugh when Hunter started singing "...beer for my horses and whiskey for my donkey...". Funny kid! Of course we also got a lot of miles out of talking about Warren "Haulin' Ass" too. You really have to feel kind of sorry for the poor guy having to put up with me!

Ranch Logo

The ranch log is finally complete and I think it looks pretty darn good! I am still waiting for the final revision on my first web site logo though. I sure hope that it is worth the wait because it is taking forever!

Yard Sale Day

Today is a yard sale day - yes! I wonder what I might find in my travels...

I am always looking for a scrabble game, ribbons, ric-rac and buttons for my crafts. A couple weeks ago I made a haul because I got about 100 bottles of craft paint for $10 and I got 20 brand spankin' new embroidery paints for $4 not to mention the angel rubber stamp, silver rope ribbon and embossing powder I got out of a free box!

My entire scrap room is built out of yard sale finds. I got my counters and cabinets from a sale at an old motel they were demolishing, my big wrap around table and set of old card storage drawers came from a stationery store that was closing, my little cuttlebug\ cricut table is and old nail techs customized work area, my ribbon storage drawers are a refinished old set of metal chest of drawers from a yard sale....the list just goes on. The carpet was even free and brand new compliments of my in-laws.

It's a good thing that all my furniture is cheap because it is holding an undisclosed amount of crafty stuff! I don't disclose this because my husband reads my blog ;-) Hi honey!
